Archambault turned once again to the drawing boards of Joubert, Nivelt & Mercier for this, the smallest IRC Racer/Cruiser in their lineup (others are the A35 and A40RC).

The A31 hulls is built of a vacuum infused resin glass sandwich, injection infusion structural liner and composite deck. LOA is 9.55 metres with a beam of 3.23. Draft is 1.90 with a displacement of 3050 kg.

The cruiser aspect of Racer / Cruiser is well accounted for in the A31 with sleeping for six and a full galley. The head combines with a work/storage area. There is 1.82m of headroom belowdecks.

The A31 carries 50m2 of sail area upwind, 102m2 off the wind and has a 14 horsepower auxiliary diesel engine equipped with saildrive.
